The Mark

Twenty years.
One mark.

The 20th anniversary mark integrates the existing First Steps people-icon — three figures representing community, family, and connection — directly into the zero of "20". The organisation's symbol literally inhabits its milestone.

Arched lettering above, refined serif typography below, with a double-rule and the founding year — est. 2005 — completing the seal. It reads as both a badge of honour and a living symbol of the people at the heart of the work.

The Brief

MARKING
twenty years.

First Steps came to me with a straightforward but meaningful brief: create an anniversary mark that celebrates two decades of work without abandoning the identity people already know and trust.

The solution was to make the existing icon the centrepiece of the milestone — embedding the people-mark inside the "0" of 20. The anniversary number becomes a frame, a stage, a spotlight for the organisation's core symbol. Twenty years haven't changed what they do — they've deepened it.

Rendered in silver and charcoal across dark and mid grounds, the mark carries the quiet authority of a genuine institution — elegant, restrained, and earned.
